| The
programme is split into two divisions:
- First Division: language
training
Level
1, elementary, offered in the first term
Level
2, intermediate, offered in the first and second
terms
Level
3, advanced, offered in all three terms
- Upper Division: linguistic
specialisation
Level
4, offered in the second and third terms
Level
5, offered in the third term
Students
are registered for levels 1, 2 or 3, according
to their results in the placement test given at
the beginning of the year. They then progress
from one level to another each term. In the summer
session, only the first division is offered.
Language
learning is developed through:
- Traditional language classes:
spelling, grammar, verbal and written communication,
the study of authentic texts and literature.
- A variety of optional courses
on general culture or on more specialized subjects:
European and international organizations, the
arts, French culture and society, and on various
social and religious themes.
- Dynamic, structured oral
exercises done individually or in groups with
the documentary resources and equipment of the
multimedia centre of the campus library.
Formal
training is agreeably complemented by:
- Cultural trips: Paris,
the chateaux of the Loire Valley, Strasbourg,
the South of France, the Côte d'Azur,
Monaco, Lyon, the D-Day landing beaches of Normandy,
the Mont Blanc, etc.
- Frequent daily contacts
with the French-speaking population of the campus.
- Participation in the social,
cultural, sporting and recreational activities
organized on and off campus.
