Learn French

The Institute of French as a Foreign Language (IFLE) has been providing French courses to non-French speakers for over 90 years. Thousands of students from all over the world have come to our school to learn the language of Molière. Located on a magnificent campus 15 minutes away from Geneva's international airport and in the foothills of a Savoyard village, the IFLE not only offers a breathtaking view of the Geneva basin but also high quality infrastructure. On our campus you will discover two beautiful residences, bright classrooms, a multimedia center, a language laboratory, a cafeteria, gymnasium, and even a climbing wall for rock-climbing lovers.

High quality teaching

Our reputation of excellence has been forged over the years thanks to the quality of our French courses and the qualified teachers who follow the requirements of the Fle Quality Label that our school has been awarded for more than 10 years. The teaching team also provides personalised attention to the needs and challenges of each student in order to offer optimal conditions for learning and progress. All our courses meet the requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

 A practice- oriented approach

The action perspective is at the heart of all our courses. The learner is the actor of his training and thanks to the multiple interactions, he quickly becomes operational in different communication situations. Knowledge, know-how, and interpersonal skills are acquired thanks to the strategies acquired and the exchanges taking place both in the classroom and outside the school setting. The trainers make sure to balance the basic language skills - oral and written comprehension, production and interaction - and seek to enrich them with socio-cultural and pragmatic sharing by giving an important place to the intercultural dimension created by the students.

A wide range of courses

Our diverse and adapted offer will meet each individual's needs. No minimum level of French is required to come to Collonges.

REGULAR PROGRAM, 5 days a week and of variable duration, is for those who are looking for intensive, combined or super intensive training.

EVENING PROGRAM, from 1 to 4 times a week, will be perfectly adapted to those who are active during the day and wish to practice conversation, review grammar, do some general French or prepare for an official exam.

PROGRAMME A LA CARTE, with the content and duration to be determined together, will be more suitable for specific projects of an organized group (company, high school, association...).

The SUMMER COURSE, will take place from June 17 to July 26, 2024

Summer 2024

The different levels

All our courses are organised according to the CECRL levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). Everyone will therefore be able to find a training course that will meet their needs. Our goal is to offer each person an ideal environment to learn French in the best conditions. For this reason, our school limits class sizes to 15 people.

French culture and a European environment

Over and beyond the French language, the objective of the Institute of French as a Foreign Language is to introduce its trainees to French culture and to the discovery of Europe's plurilingual and pluricultural environment. A rich program of visits, trips, courses in French cuisine, drama, arts, as well as international organisations and European institutions are offered. The central location of our campus makes it a unique place to discover international Geneva and "European" Strasbourg. The great figures of the Reformation Movement - Calvin, Luther, Farel - are also included in our program.

Preparation to official State exams such as DELF-DALF and TCF

The IFLE prepares students for the French general examinations of DELF, DALF and TCF, which are aligned with the Common European Reference Framework. These diplomas are delivered by the French Ministry of National Education. The examinations are taken at the end of May, at the end of the school year.
